CREEK FRY
Built for fish that sit in the current, not chase it.
The Creek Fry is a 42 mm slow-floating shallow runner crankbait designed for fishing current seams and shallow runs in creeks and rivers. Built to imitate a small drifting baitfish, it excels when fish are positioned in moving water and reacting to passing food rather than actively hunting.
This is a presentation lure — not a high-speed retrieve lure.
Why It Works
Fish holding in shallow runs conserve energy. Instead of chasing prey, they wait for food to drift past within reach.
The Creek Fry targets those fish.
Its natural swimming action moves with the flow rather than fighting it, creating a realistic presentation that appears like a baitfish being carried downstream. When paused, the lure slowly lifts in the water column, often triggering an instinctive reaction strike.
Designed For Structure
Work it along:
• current seams
• shallow runs
• riffle edges
• gravel bars
• bank eddies
• light cover near flowing water
The slow float allows the lure to rise clear of the bottom and cover while remaining in the strike zone.
Action & Retrieve
The Creek Fry swims with a tight, natural wobble suited to moving water and cautious fish.
How to fish it:
Cast slightly upstream
Allow the lure to drift with the current
Retrieve slowly with the flow
Pause occasionally near cover
Let it slowly float upward
Continue with gentle twitches
Strikes commonly occur:
• as the lure passes holding fish
• during the pause
• as it lifts in the current
Fish it slower than you think.
Fishing Notes
Fish holding in shallow runs rarely chase — they react to passing movement. Present the lure so it travels naturally with the flow rather than across it.
Particularly effective in cooler water and winter conditions.
Recommended Leader: 6–12 lb fluorocarbon
Specifications
Length: 42 mm
Type: Shallow Runner Crankbait
Buoyancy: Slow Floating
Running Depth: 0.3–0.9 m
Designed For: Current seams and shallow runs
Target Species: Australian Bass, Murray Cod, Yellowbelly (Golden Perch)
