RIVER PRAWN
The River Prawn is a 42 mm slow-floating shallow runner crankbait built for working weed edges and mangrove banks in rivers and estuaries. Imitating a small prawn or shrimp moving along structure, it excels when fish are feeding tight to cover and inspecting a lure before striking.
This is a patience lure — slow retrieves catch more fish.
Why It Works
Fish feeding along weed and mangrove edges rarely move far from cover. They watch passing food and commit only when it stays in range long enough.
The River Prawn targets those fish.
Its controlled action keeps the lure moving naturally along the edge, while the slow-floating body allows it to remain in the strike zone during pauses. Fish will often follow the lure before striking, with most takes occurring beside structure.
Designed For Structure
Work it along:
• weed beds
• weed edges
• mangrove banks
• overhanging cover
• shallow estuary margins
• bank structure
The slow float keeps the lure hovering beside cover instead of diving into it, allowing precise presentations along edges.
Action & Retrieve
The River Prawn swims with a tight, natural wobble suited to cautious fish and structure-heavy water.
How to fish it:
Cast parallel to the bank or weed line
Retrieve slowly along the edge
Use longer pauses
Let the lure float upward beside cover
Continue with gentle twitches
Strikes commonly occur:
• beside weed or mangrove structure
• during extended pauses
• after fish follow the lure
Fish it slower than you think.
Fishing Notes
Retrieve slowly along weed margins and allow extended pauses to keep the lure in the strike zone.
Most takes occur close to structure, particularly after a following fish commits.
Particularly effective in lightly stained water.
Recommended Leader: 6–12 lb fluorocarbon
